Ini-Abasi Umotong Graduates With First Class From University Of Southampton

Super Falcons striker Ini-Abasi Umotong will be graduating with a First Class Honors degree in Economics from the University of Southampton, as the Oxford United star shared the uplifting news on her Social Media account on Thursday.

“Delighted to be graduating with a First Class Honours in Economics with a First Class Dissertation!” Umotong posted on her Facebook page.

Umotong had a phenomenal season for Portsmouth in 2014/15 season that opened the path for her international career, after her goal scoring exploits led the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division side to win their seventh successive Hampshire County Cup, and the league title.

Scoring 29 goals in 25 league and cup matches, Umotong emerged top goal scorer for Pompey, she left Portsmouth for Oxford United In February 2016.

Oxford manager Les Taylor lavish praise on the Nigerian star: “Ini is a striker who possesses both power and pace.

Umotong has only made one appearance for Nigeria’s senior women’s’ team and she was a part of the squad that represented Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, in spite of the fact that she didn’t get the chance to play.

In November 2016, the 23-year old packed away two awards at the FA’s Women’s Award function held at Wembley Stadium – the FA Women’s Super League 2 Players’ Player of the Year honor and Top Goalscorer award – after an extraordinary debut season for Oxford United.
